The Mauryan succession is easy to remember as Chandragupta Maurya → Bindusara → Ashoka. Chandragupta founded the Mauryan Empire, Bindusara was his son, and Ashoka was Bindusara's son. Thus, Chandragupta was Ashoka's grandfather.
