The Third Battle of Panipat, fought on 14 January 1761, ended in victory for the forces led by Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali (Ahmad Shah Durrani) over the Maratha army. The battle was one of the largest and most consequential military encounters of 18th-century India.
