The Mahabharata is traditionally attributed to Ved Vyasa, also known as Krishna Dvaipayana Vyasa. According to tradition, Vyasa composed the epic and Ganesha wrote it down as Vyasa dictated it. Krishna, Arjuna and Sanjaya are major figures within the epic rather than its traditional author.
