The Battle of Karnal was fought in 1739 between the Persian ruler Nadir Shah and the Mughal emperor Muhammad Shah. The Mughal army was decisively defeated. Nadir Shah subsequently entered Delhi and carried away enormous wealth, including famous imperial treasures.
