Haryana achieved the distinction of becoming the first state to complete comprehensive aquifer mapping under the relevant groundwater-mapping programme. Aquifer mapping identifies underground water-bearing formations, their extent and characteristics, making it useful for groundwater planning and sustainable extraction.
